Melrose Gordon, the common-law wife of murdered Trelawny farmer Winston 'Manna' Stewart is now calling out for justice to be served on his killers.

The burnt remains of the 63-year-old farmer was discovered on a farm at Walker Piece in the parish on Monday afternoon. The Trelawny police have confirmed that they have arrested a suspect. Reports by the Clarks Town police are that Stewart, who resided in MacHill, left home sometime after midday on Sunday, and set out for his farm.

When he did not return that afternoon, his relatives grew concerned and made a report. On Monday, a search team stumbled upon Stewart's burnt remains at a farm owned by the suspect. Two other men who have been implicated in the murder remain at large. Gordon told THE STAR that Stewart was a very peaceful individual and did not deserve such a death.

"Him is a quiet man, nuh mek no trouble. Suh a don't know wha dem kill him fah," the distraught woman related. While expressing joy that one of the suspects has been arrested, Gordon said that she will not feel at rest until all of them have been caught. One senior cop in Trelawny said that criminal charges are expected to be laid against the suspect by today.

"We are now in the process of getting a confession from him in the presence of his lawyer, after which he will be charged," the senior cop stated. Stewart is the fifth person to be murdered in Trelawny this year.
