Old Olympic Gardens station to become housing complex
The former site of the Olympic Gardens Police Station in Prime Minister Andrew Holness' constituency of St Andrew West Central is to be transformed into a housing development.
Holness said that the complex will have seven units, one of which is to be reserved for rental to police officers who work in the area.
"There are police officers who reside out of town, and who may find it difficult to locate rentals in proximity to the Olympic Gardens Police Station; some may be working overtime hours and will need a place to stay," Holness said.
Financing for the project, which is located at the Bay Farm Villa Housing Scheme, will be provided through the West Central St Andrew Trust.

Shaw aims to return discipline to transport sector
Audley Shaw says that he will be focusing on eliminating indiscipline in the transport sector and restoring the railway system.
"We are going to lift our standards in this country, treating people with respect, treating them like human beings, and when they end up at work they feel happy and end up being more productive," said Shaw, who was recently appointed minister of transport and mining.
He said that commuters must be able to travel in comfort, and that work will be done to reposition the Jamaica Urban Transit Company, as the public transport system is central for students and workers.
Regarding the railway system, Shaw said a private investor is making plans to run a train from Montego Bay, in St James to Appleton in St Elizabeth, to facilitate tourism offerings, and "it will be the beginning of the restoration of the railway system in Jamaica".
