An alleged relative of a St James man who was shot and killed after reportedly firing at the police is insisting that the cops, and the man's girlfriend don't know his real name.

The Freeport police in Montego Bay reported that about 6 a.m., officers went to premises at Ackee Tree Lane in Green Pond, in search of a man known to them as Tevin Stewart, an alleged member of the G City gang. The police further reported that on reaching the premises, they were confronted by Stewart who brandished a handgun and opened gunfire at them. The gunfire was returned and Stewart was shot and killed. A search of the premises also yielded two handguns and several rounds of ammunition. The girlfriend was taken into custody for questioning. However, one of the alleged gangster's relatives identified him by another name.

"That deh woman a idiot. How she fi deh wid man an nah know him real name?" another relative told THE STAR. "I don't have a clue weh she get and the police dem get Tevin Stewart from, because mi know [him] from him born. Investigators confirmed that the house is occupied by the girlfriend and that Stewart was only visiting the premises.

"This individual was under the police radar for his involvements in gang activities through the community, and also the girlfriend has been taken into custody only for questioning," one senior cop stated.
