Several devices believed to be used in lottery scamming, as well as candles and oils used to perform obeah, were seized during an operation carried out in Chantilly Gardens, Westmoreland, on Thursday.

Investigators say the three persons taken into custody, two men and one woman, are believed to be major players in the illegal lottery scam, and their identities are being withheld pending further investigation. The police reported that the operation started shortly after 5 a.m., and three premises in Chantilly Gardens were searched. Several high-end vehicles and lead sheets with telephone numbers, addresses and personal information of persons living overseas were also seized. Lawmen also seized a Beretta sub-machine gun, cellular phones, laptops and cash. The candles and oils, bearing labels such as 'clearance' were also retrieved from one dwelling.

The suspects were transported to St James where they are presently being questioned in connection with the seizure.
