Wanted men surrender to cops

February 15, 2022

Two of Westmoreland's most wanted men, who reportedly engaged the police in a firefight last Saturday, turned themselves in yesterday.

They have been identified as Moses Ramsey, otherwise called 'Satan' of Burnt Savannah, and Russia district in the parish, and Devani Bennett, otherwise called 'Santa', of Auldayn district, Bluefields, also in Westmoreland.

Reports are that shortly before midday last Saturday, the Westmoreland police were on operation in the area when men were seen dressed in army fatigues walking around with guns. The men engaged the police in a firefight. Andre Hinds, otherwise called 'Bunny', was fatally shot during that exchange. Ramsey and Bennett fled the area but later turned themselves in.

Head of the Westmoreland Police Division, Superintendent Robert Gordon, told THE STAR that Hinds and two cronies drove fear into the hearts of residents of Alldere, and that Hinds was far more eager to fire his weapon.
