A 50-year-old man is now dead and his two nephews in custody following a dispute at their family house in Troy district, Trelawny, on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Clive Clarke, a labourer. Reports by the Ulster Spring police are that shortly after 2 p.m., Clarke, who was accused of stealing chicks from his sister's coop, walked to her house where he allegedly used a machete to attack his nephews, ages 25 and 18. He reportedly pushed the older nephew to the ground and stood over him with his machete, when the younger one used a piece of plank to hit him in the head. Clarke fell to the ground and was rushed to the Percy Junior Hospital in Manchester where he died while being treated. The police were summoned and upon arrival, the brothers were taken into custody.

When THE STAR visited the family home yesterday, several close relatives were seen gathered inside the family yard. Clarke's sister Keisha Campbell wept bitterly while seated at the entrance to the home. She said that was weeping for her nephews not for Clarke, as he was not the most caring sibling.

"Mi know seh nuff people naw go feel good about what mi have fi seh, but mi know seh Clive is not the kind a person that everybody think him be. All I can say is that a lot Clive do, an Clive have family strength," she said. Several other relatives agreed, saying that Clarke was a troublemaker. One relative showed the news team where the incident took place.

"A right a deh cherry tree yah him come attack dem wid machete. If him hear seh dem pass remarks 'bout him, all him need fi do is just fi cool himself an come complain to him sister. Him neva should come inna dem own yard come attack dem, not because a yah suh him born," he said. This is the fifth domestic murder to take place in Trelawny this year.
