Residents in Chester Castle, Hanover are calling for their Member of Parliament Dave Brown for assistance with ongoing issues that have left the community without running water for six weeks.

Disgruntled residents took to the streets of the community in massive numbers this morning, blocking miles of roadway leading to and from the community to protest the inconvenience.

“This is a populated community. We don't use pit toilets anymore, we use flush toilets, so we need water to flush our toilets. We need water to wash our hands, it’s COVID time, and as you say water is life, so we need water,” said one elderly resident.

Hundreds of other residents shared the same opinion, pointing out that they sacrificed going to their jobs just to let their voices be heard on their pressing matter.

Commuters were left stranded, as the blockades stretch from the Chester Castle community, along several miles of roadway to the border of Bethel Town in Westmoreland.

Members of the Hanover Police Division, and the Jamaica Defense Force tried to intervene, but faced challenges removing the debris based on the magnitude.

Residents say MP for the Hanover East constituency, Dave Brown, has neglected them since winning his seat in the last General Election.

Several attempts to contact Brown were unsuccessful.
