Kingston woman fined a total of $45,000 over ganja found at her home

Kingston resident Tracy Ann Walker today pleaded guilty to possession of and dealing in ganja in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court and was fined a total of $45,000.

Walker was ordered to pay a fine of $15,000 or serve three months’ imprisonment for possession of ganja, and $30,000 for dealing in ganja or six months’ imprisonment.

Walker, who was given an opportunity by the judge to explain, told the court that the substance was for her personal use in aid of a medical condition.
 
The police had reported that a search of Walker’s premises yielded parcels of compressed vegetable matter, which turned out to be ganja.
