"A just funeral after funeral after funeral..." was the despondent cry of a resident of Seaforth in St Thomas, hours after the area recorded its fourth murder for the year.

The latest victim is Anthony Bailey, 46, otherwise called 'Traveller' and 'Johnny', originally of a Blacksmith Lane address in the community. He was killed at the intersection of School Lane and Navar Lane. No motive has been established, however, head of the St Thomas police, Superintendent Allison Byfield, suggested that it could be a result of the ongoing feud between factions in Bailey's district and Navar Lane.

"This has been happening for the past few months ... years even, and the residents have been very tight-lipped. But we continue to appeal to those involved to cease and desist," she said. Bailey's brother gazed aimlessly at the filthy gully where the body of his older sibling was seen.

"Mi hear seh him go Navar Lane to help him brethren pack a pit and when him a come back, that's when it happened. Look like is just wrong place, wrong time. We always talk about how the area running but because is a man weh play him football, him feel like him and everybody a friend," the brother shared. Sitting a stone's throw away from the gully, an elderly resident described the killings as "pure foolishness".

"I keep asking the question, what is all of this for? I don't see the reason. It's not like dem discover some gold over there and man a fight for it or some money move. They have nothing to get from this," he said. The resident, who said that he has lived in Seaforth all his life, told THE WEEKEND STAR that his community was never this violent.

"None of them [violence producers] weh involved not even have a peanut cart out a road a sell so I don't know what dem living for or trying to achieve from all this foolishness. It's just some waste idlers because if they knew anything about progress they wouldn't be doing this," he said. St Thomas has recorded five murders.
