Man blames Joe for curfew breach
A Corporate Area man told the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court yesterday that he broke the nightly curfew because his girlfriend had another man at his home.
The man admitted to breaching the curfew and was fined under the Disaster Risk Management Act. The court heard that he was seen along the roadway at 1:40 a.m. and when he was cautioned by police, he said, "Offica, a me woman bring other man pon me so me nuh want him hurt me or me hurt him, so me lef."
Having heard the police reports, Senior Parish Judge Lori-Ann Cole-Montague reduced the fine she had planned on imposing.
"I was going to fine you $40,000 but that one hurts," the judge related.
The man was ordered to pay a fine of $30,000 or face six months' imprisonment.
