Spider bites man's penis

A man was frightened that he would lose his penis after it was bitten by a black widow spider as he slept.

Fergus Farrelly, a construction worker from Ireland, revealed that he woke up one morning with a painful lump on his penis which continued to swell in size.

Farrelly left the bit for three days but decided to seek medical attention when it turned a dark purple colour and swelled to the size of a golf ball.

He was prescribed a cocktail of drugs after doctors realised that there was black widow venom in his blood.

The 26-year-old confessed that he was terrified of losing his penis completely, but fortunately escaped with just a two-inch scar.

He told The Sun newspaper: "I couldn't believe it when they found the venom of a black widow spider in my blood -- I'd never even heard of one before.

"I was in hospital for days on all kinds of drips after the giant lump burst. That was when I thought I would lose my penis altogether.

"I'm all healed now and I do find it a wee bit funny -- but also scary; I had no idea what damage spiders could do."

Corpses dug up to facilitate tourist attractions

New photos of more than a dozen 'natural mummies' on display in Colombia have been released.

Some of the corpses -- available for public viewing at a mausoleum in the small Andes town of San Bernardo, 40 miles away from the capital Bogota -- are believed to be 100 years old, but no one knows how they have been so well-preserved.

Locals have been pontificating that it is due to their healthy diets, which includes a fruit known as guatila or chayote. However, this does not give an answer as to why their clothing was so well-kept after a century.

The identities of the bodies -- which include children -- are known and were dug up to give more space to tourist attractions, despite protestation from the Catholic church.

In 2015, Ever Pabon, one of the children of the deceased, shared how he likes to see his father "any time".

He told the Wall Street Journal in 2015: "Most people who lose their parents put them in the ground or cremate them and can never see them again, but if I miss him, I can see him any time, and he's exactly how he was in life."

Canada has world's smallest movie theatre

A 13-seat movie theatre in Canada has been named the world's smallest.

The Little Prince Micro-Cinema in Toronto has snagged the Guinness World Record for the smallest purpose-built picture house.

The space -- which opened in October 2021 and used to be an art gallery -- is styled after Victorian theatres, complete with red carpeting, tiered seating and velvet ropes.

Leigh Cooney, the owner and operator of the 175.36 square foot theatre, told the Stratford Beacon Herald: "It's really very rewarding to earn this recognition.

"We may be small, but we're having a huge impact with those people who are looking for a safe and unique alternative to traditional movie theaters."
