Two men described as key players in the importation of illegal guns are now in the custody of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).

The men, who are yet to be charged, have been arrested in connection with the seizure of 21 firearms at a warehouse in Kingston last Friday after Jamaica Customs officials detected a suspicious parcel and called in the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch of the JCF.

"These males are considered to be key players in the illegal importation of firearm," deputy commissioner of police Fitz Bailey said.

"The two males who are now in custody will be interviewed in the presence of their attorneys and the appropriate action will be taken," Bailey added.

The cache of illegal weapons comprised 18 pistols, three rifles, 2,216 rounds of ammunition and 51 magazines.

A woman, who was named a person of interest by the police, was questioned by the police and released after she turned herself in.
