The family of Michael Jackson, the comatose 15-year-old boy who was involved in a crash in St Thomas, is calling on the nation to join them in prayer this Friday, March 11 at 1 p.m.

The crash occurred last weekend along the Trinityville main road after the driver of the vehicle in which he was travelling reportedly swerved the car to avoid hitting a cow that had stepped out into the road.

The vehicle collided into a utility pole breaking it in two and causing serious injuries to Michael's neck and hip.

He has since been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the Kingston Public Hospital.

Lasana Turner-Francis told THE WEEKEND STAR that, though her stepson Michael has shown minor signs of improvement, his state is still a cause for concern.

"He showed slight improvements as he snapped out of the coma yesterday. The doctors had to put him back [in a coma] though because he is still in the woods. We still crave the donation of blood," she shared, expressing her gratitude to those who have reached out thus far to support in that regard.

Turner-Francis shared that on par with their desperate need for blood donations is their request for prayers.

It is with this in mind that the family, along with Morant Bay High School, of which Michael is a third form student, will be hosting a prayer session.

According to his stepmom, "The family is asking that the nation, churches, schools and all believers of God to join us as we go through a national day of prayer and fasting for Michael. The family will join the team at Morant Bay High School at 1 p.m. to pray. We also asked that everyone join us at this time, wherever they are, in prayer."

Marsha Ford-Bryan, acting principal of the school, said that the school body is saddened by Michael's state and has been doing all it can to support.

"We are facilitating the family as best as possible with the resources that we have. The family's pastor will be coming in for the moment of prayer here at the school, and some of our own teachers will also be participating in the session," she shared.

Ford-Bryan also noted that the school bus will be used to transport willing donors to the blood bank in Kingston on Saturday.

"If it happens to be more than what our school bus can accommodate, then we are willing to book another bus to assist. We have also been reaching out to other principals in the parish to see if their schools are able to make contributions. We are grateful for any donation to help Michael at this time."

The blood can be donated to any blood bank using Michael Jackson's name. The receipt can be picked up or sent to Lasana Turner-Francis at (876) 574-1247. Monetary donations can also be made to National Commercial Bank, Morant Bay branch, account #644144380 in the name of Lasana Turner-Francis.
