Woman marries her cat

A woman has married her cat, so that she doesn't have to give up the pet. Deborah Hodge tied the knot with her feline India last week in a park ceremony that was presided over by a legally ordained friend.

Hodge wore a tuxedo for the wedding, which featured India meowing through the vows.

The single mother lost her job last month and fears she may be evicted from her home in Sidcup, south east London, and wants future landlords to know that she and her moggy can't be separated.

Hodge claims that landlords, over the years, have forced her to rehome two huskies and a cat, and was determined to avoid the same thing happening again.

She told The Sun newspaper: "I can't be without India. She is truly a sensation, she is so friendly and amazing. She is fundamentally the most important thing in my life, after my children."

Man hides gold in anus

A man was found with 2lb of gold up his anus after "acting suspiciously" at an airport in India.

The passenger had arrived on an Air Arabia flight to the city of Jaipur last Friday, and officials claimed that he "was looking suspicious from his manners".

The airport confirmed that "a personal search was carried out" and claimed that three transparent polyethylene capsules wrapped in white plastic were concealed up the man's bum.

Inside the capsules were small metal granules made up of almost pure gold worth PS43,000 (approximately $8.5 million).

The official confirmed: "The 791 gram gold of 99.50 per cent purity, valued at Rs 42,739,310, was extracted and was seized."

Danger lurks on Mars

Elon Musk has warned that life on Mars will be dangerous at first.

The Tesla billionaire is hoping to reach the Red Planet with his SpaceX company, but says the first settlers on Mars shouldn't expect a glamourous lifestyle.

In an interview with the head of TED conferences Chris Anderson, Musk said: "It's very important to emphasise that Mars, especially in the beginning, will not be luxurious. It will be dangerous, cramped, difficult, hard work.

"The sales pitch for going to Mars is, 'It's dangerous, cramped, difficult, hard work.' That's the sales pitch. But it'll be glorious."

Musk is also aware that the first trip to Mars will pose a certain amount of risk.

He said: "The joke I make all the time is, excitement is guaranteed. Success is not guaranteed, but excitement certainly is."

The entrepreneur thinks that establishing colonies on Mars is essential to prolonging the existence of the human race.

Musk said: "I think this is important for maximising the probable lifespan of humanity or consciousness. Human civilisation could come to an end for external reasons, like a giant meteor or super volcanoes, or extreme climate change or World War III, or, you know, any one of a number of reasons."

Women are worse snorers than men -- poll

More men complain that they are kept awake by their partners and estimate that the female snores reach 80 decibels -- similar to the noise made by vacuum cleaners.

Women gauged their male partners' racket at just 70 decibels, the same as a flushing toilet.

Three out of 10 men say they are regularly kept awake by snoring from their loved one, compared to two in 10 women, the poll for Cairn Hotel Group found.

The hotel group's Vince Johnson said: "The British Snoring and Sleep Apnoea Association found there are 10 million males and nearly five million females who snore in the UK.

"Interestingly, our study found men are less tolerant when it comes to snoring -- and more likely to take a 'snore-cation' to get a full forty winks."
