Former supermarket supervisor pleads guilty to manslaughter

Former supermarket supervisor Aundre Bromfield pleaded guilty to manslaughter today when he appeared in the circuit court for the murder of his lover at the Master Mac Supermarket in Manchester two years ago.

On December 31, 2019, Aundre Bromfield, 24-year-old Shantell White, and others were in the lunchroom when White was greeted by another male colleague who kissed her on the cheek. 

Bromfield reportedly got up from his chair in a bout of rage, pulled his licensed firearm, and fired several shots in White’s direction after she commented that the kiss should have been on her lips.

White was shot several times in the face and died from cranial and cerebral injury.

Bromfield surrendered to the police on January 1, 2020, and was subsequently charged with one count of illegal possession of firearm, and one count of murder.

He pleaded not guilty to both counts and had the charges reduced to Manslaughter on the basis of provocation. 

According to the evidence presented, Bromfield in his caution statement indicated that he was provoked by White.

"Me take up this girl and give her everything, build her all two-bedroom house, pay off her credit card and me realise say she have another man... Me see this youth a kiss kiss her up and me talk to her and she a diss me up. Me just snap." 

Sentencing is set for Tuesday, May 31.
