Knife-wielding robbers steal motorcycle
One man has been charged for robbery with aggravation following an incident along the Pineapple main road, Ocho Rios in St Ann, last Friday.
He is 20-year-old Jevaughn Dixon, otherwise called 'Biggs', aconstruction worker of Seville Heights in the parish. Reports are that about 2:30 p.m., a man was sitting on his motorcycle when three men approached him, armed with scissors and knives, and robbed him of his motorcycle before they fled the scene. The victim and two other men went in search of the assailants and accosted one of them. He was brought to the police station and a report was made. The police went in search of the other perpetrators and the stolen motorcycle was found along a dirt track and taken to the St Ann's Bay Police Station for safe keeping. Dixon was charged on the weekend. His court date is being finalised.
Meanwhile, a Westmoreland man has been charged by detectives following a triple shooting on Bangie Lane, Smithfield in the parish in July 2020.
The accused is 27-year-old Odane Cooper, a farmer of Wharf Road, also in Smithfield. Cooper turned himself in to police at the Savanna-la-Mar Police Station, accompanied by his attorney last week. Reports are that about 12:15 p.m., three men were searching for a stolen cattle when on reaching Bangie Lane, it is alleged that Cooper opened gunfire at the men who subsequently fled. A report was made to the police and an investigation launched. Last Saturday, Cooper was charged with three counts of shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm. His court date is being finalised.
