Sibling squabbles were normal for Unique and her brother Dwayne 'Dugu' Hall, so when they had another one on Monday, she expected that they would be cracking jokes again before long.

But Hall did no return home. The 34-year-old labourer and his co-worker, Kirkland Damion Baker, 37, were killed by gunmen travelling on motorbikes as they sat with a group of men on Church Street in downtown Kingston on Tuesday afternoon. Another man was also shot and injured. According to police reports, the shooting occurred about 12:30 p.m.

"Mi stand up outside mi bar and somebody call mi and tell mi say mi bredda get shot up. Mi get traumatised and mi bawl out. Mi start feel weak and one a mi fren carry mi go KPH. Mi pregnant suh the doctors ask mi if mi strong enough to identify him and as mi draw the curtain mi know a him. To tell yuh the truth when mi hear say him get shot, mi never think it serious. Mi a go fi go mess round with him and tell him say look how him love argue with mi and now mi a di first one reach him. But when mi go, mi bredda dead," Unique cried. She described her brother as a lovable, hard-working person.

"Him was a gimmicks man and him make everyone laugh. Him never grow up yet, is a man who will make some funny sound, all bark like dog and make di whole place laugh. Him did still young and childish and we love him," she said.

ONGOING FEUD

As the tears streamed down her face, Unique said Hall worked tirelessly to provide for his children. She stressed that he was not involved in any criminal activities and was killed merely because of his address as there has been an ongoing feud between thugs in sections of central Kingston. Hall hailed from Tower Street.

"Mi bredda work all over the place, a dat him live for because when him nah work him get miserable and say how him pickney dem a go eat. Is three children him get and him have a five-month-old baby a foreign who him did a look forward fi meet fi di first time and see it deh," she said. Unique was able to smile briefly as she recalled that Hall sometimes used her bar as a recording studio.

"Him loved music and used to sing him little song dem, but him never buss yet. Him was very miserable, but he was a good person. Him love work and him love him family dem. Him never do anyone any harm yet," she said.
