Students allegedly using classroom for sex, drugs

In what should be an intense period of preparations for final-year exams for some high school students, some students at a Corporate Area high school are allegedly partaking in sexual activities while getting high on marijuana and popping Molly, all on the compound.

Reports reaching THE STAR are that these daredevil teens have openly disregarded authorities, using a classroom to facilitate their lewd activities. A confidential source revealed that the classroom has been renamed 'The Club', as the students feel it symbolises the frolicking that started there in mid-September.

"Dem have dem Molly, dem ganja and vape weh dem get high on and while dem having sex dem have other students a watch fi see if any teacher or adult coming in dat direction," the source said. The 'festivities' usually start after lunch hours and often end before the last classroom session of the school day commences. According to the source, students were engaged in illicit activities as recently as Friday.

However, when contacted on Tuesday for a comment, the school's principal said he was surprised to hear reports of students having sex in class or popping Molly. He, however, confirmed that the school has been having issues with students smoking marijuana.

"But those five students were identified, their parents were called in and they were suspended from school. They were also referred to the National Council on Drug Abuse for testing and counselling," said the principal, before stating that as part of standard procedure, the students cannot be reinstated at the school until a report from a drug testing agency was submitted to them.

He also stressed that he has been hands-on with everything happening in and around his school and would have at least been alerted by someone regarding the illegal activities.

"Some of the things you are saying to me are new to me. I am not an office principal. I walk the campus. If that is happening, that would be an interesting development. The school has a principal who stays on the ground," he said.
