There is a Jamaican-branded sorrel-flavoured cocktail that promises to set your taste buds tingling during and beyond the yuletide season.

It’s called the I’m Jaz sorrell cocktail mix, which was one of the flagship items on display and among the faster-selling items when THE WEEKEND STAR visited Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) Agri-Mart at 191 Old Hope Road, St Andrew recently.

Donovan Virgo, who, along with his sister, has been producing the sorrel cocktail mix, described it as a one-of-a-kind Jamaican gift item, which is not just for Christmas, but all through the year.

“Our product is 100 per cent natural Jamaican sorrel and we also use natural ginger. We don’t believe in cutting corners because we believe that people will pay the right amount for quality products. For the same reason that they buy a Mercedes Benz vehicle because they want the quality it brings, and that is what we do,” Virgo said.

“We are a small business and have maintained our quality throughout the years, using all natural products, and what makes our cocktail mix unique is the ways in which it can be used. It can be used to make a daiquiri, but you can also use it to make a margarita or a mojito, and pretty much any sorrel cocktail with or without alcohol that you would like. That is the versatility of our product.”

Brenda Green, regional social services and home economics officer at RADA, describes the product as the real thing.

“It has everything you need,” she said.
