After 30 years of not being able to see from her right eye, Lisa Grant, 50, is delighted that she can do so again after undergoing successful surgery in Cuba last month.

The surgery was facilitated by the Ocho Rios, St Ann-based We Believe Ministry, headed by Prince Hall. Grant, who is of a Kingston address, told the news team that the issue with her right eye came up unexpectedly.

"I just wake up one morning and see like the eyeball was coming out," she said. "I wasn't paying it no mind and when I started paying mind, I could not finance myself [to do the surgery]. I'm happy. It means a great option for me, now I can do certain things." Hall said that Grant was suffering from a tumour which was pressing againts the eye and causing her lack of vision.

Grant is expected to get additional treatment to enable the eye to open naturally as she now has to use her fingers to lift the eyelid.

"From I do the surgery, it is not opening. But I can see out of the eye, when I lift it up I can see. The eyelid is down same way," she explained. Meanwhile, Hall said that when Grant reached out to his ministry about two years ago, he had little choice but to help.

"We started trying to get help for her. We put on two gospel concerts, we walked the 14 parishes of Jamaica and begged funds just to help her," he explained.

After accumulating enough funds, they journeyed to Cuba in December to get the surgery done.

"The surgery was a major success, she can now see out of her eye. She actually didn't have any vision from it and now she can see from the eye and we're just saying that we're giving God thanks because it's really God who made this possible," Hall said.
