The St James police yesterday launched a manhunt for a 13-year-old female student who reportedly stabbed her 19-year-old brother to death, following a dispute at their home in Irwin, St James, on Sunday morning.

Dead is Noel Demetrius, unemployed of Tucker Irwin also in St James.

Reports from the Granville police are that shortly after nine, both siblings were at home with other family members when an argument developed between them. It is further reported that during the dispute, the older brother allegedly repeatedly hit his younger sister. Enraged, the young teen allegedly retrieved a knife from the kitchen and reportedly used to inflict a stab wound to the region of her brother's chest. She then ran from the yard.

The injured man was rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he died while being treated.

The children's mother declined to comment on the matter yesterday. Members of the community, meanwhile, described the teen girl as quiet.

"I know Noel very well and I know his sister very well too. They are two well-behaved children, as far as I know," a woman told THE STAR.
