A carpenter found himself behind bars after he threatened to kill a bar owner who failed to hand over his winnings from gambling on a Russian Roulette poker box.

It was shared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Thursday that the accused man, Kiswayne Foote, was at the complainant's bar gambling, when he told the complainant that he wanted to "run off the money" or cash out his winnings.

"So when me guh roun' the back fi run off the money, me come back and see $500 on the box. So me say, 'Where is the money you a round off?' Him say him run it off already and him just put in $500. I told him that I was supposed to run off the money and I can't pay you for something I don't see. That's when him start rile up, and say him a guh thump me in my face" the complainant related to the court.

It was alleged that Foote returned a day later and threw stones into the bar, breaking a glass case and hitting the complainant on her hand, causing swelling and bruising. Foote was then accosted and taken to the police station, where, in the presence of police officers, threatened to kill the complainant. Foote, 21, pleaded guilty to uttering the threat.

"It sound bad, based on what the complainant is saying. Now that is very bold to threaten someone in the presence of the police. Head hot man, the presence of the police meant nothing," Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque remarked.

To the charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and malicious destruction of property, Foote pleaded not guilty. He was remanded in custody until March 16, when he is expected to be sentenced.
