Businessman gunned down

A Corporate Area businessman was gunned down yesterday morning as he and his wife were getting ready for the workday.

The deceased has been identified as Peter Green. According to reports, Green and his wife were reportedly preparing meals for sales at their restaurant on Grants Pen Road in St Andrew when they were attacked by men travelling on a motorbike about 8:30 a.m. The pillion rider reportedly alighted, walked to the shop and opened fire on the couple. Green was reportedly shot eight times.

His wife, who was also shot during the attack, is currently admitted to the hospital being treated for her injuries. Residents, who spoke in hushed tones, described the incident as "really sad" and deemed the couple to be "good and okay."

One resident related that he was lying in bed when he heard explosions, thinking that it was a bike misfiring.

"Me hear the noise but me a say a the bike, cause a sumpn weh we always hear. But me hear it again and me hear some shouting so me go to the window and peep, and me hear somebody say 'A Mr Green.' It really sad," the resident said.
