Man accused of attempted rape during electricity outage

The St Thomas police have charged a man who they said used the cover of darkness to attempt to rape a woman in the parish on Monday, January 2.

According to the police communication arm, the Corporate Communications Unit, the man offered to assist a woman who was affected by an electricity outage in the eastern section of the parish.

It is alleged that while pretending to assist the woman, the man, 35, brandished a firearm and held on to the woman's neck and demanded sex. She managed to wrestle from his hold, raised an alarm and was assisted by members of her community.
