Alleged crook caught by residents

A man who reportedly broke into a woman's house in Parry Town, St Ann, was held by citizens and handed over to the police.

Clarke Sinclair, 25, a labourer of a Parry Town address has been charged with burglary and larceny.

Reports are that about 1:30 a.m. on April 3, the woman was awakened by sounds coming from her kitchen and went to investigate. Upon seeing her, Clarke allegedly attempted to escape by jumping through a window. An alarm was raised and Clarke was held by citizens and handed over to the police. His court date is being arranged.

In another incident in the parish, a farmer has been charged with robbery with aggravation and wounding with intent following an attack on another farmer on February 12.

Reports are that Floyd Johnson, 28, of Prickle Pole in Claremont, also in the parish, was among a group of men who forced opened the door to the other farmer's dwelling and attacked him with machetes and stones. The man attempted to flee from his attackers, but was chased and chopped. He was then tied, robbed of cash, farming appliances and 23 goats. The man managed to free himself and was assisted by citizens to seek medical treatment. Johnson was subsequently arrested by the police and charged. His court date is being arranged.
