Man shot dead in Manchester, taxi operator injured

A shooting in the Albion District in Manchester has left one man dead and another injured.

The deceased has been identified as Corey Simpson, who a police source confirmed, was released from jail last week.

According to police reports, Simpson was among a group a passengers in a taxi heading from St Elizabeth to Mandeville. 

When the taxi made its stop in Mandeville, the deceased chartered to the driver to take him to the Albion community. 

As he disembarked the cab in Albion at approximately 12:30 p.m., gunmen opened fire hitting him.

The taxi driver who managed to escape the scene after his vehicle came under heavy gun fire, was shot in the back. 

He later ended up at the Newport police station where he was assisted to the hospital. 

Simpson was also rushed to the hospital , where he was pronounced dead.
