Four charged for ganja

A 17-year-old girl from Lionel Town in Clarendon is among four persons charged with breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act following the seizure of nine pounds of ganja on the Nut Hall main road in Portland on Saturday.

Reports from the Port Antonio police are that they were conducting a Vehicular Check Point in the area when they signalled the driver of a Toyota Voxy minibus to stop.

The driver disobeyed the instructions of the officers, however, the vehicle was intercepted on the Stony Hill main road and a search was conducted and the drugs were seized.

The occupants of the vehicle were subsequently arrested and charged with possession of, dealing in and trafficking ganja.
