Mason threatens to cut off babymother’s head

April 20, 2023

A mason who threatened to kill his child's mother was able to secure bail on Wednesday in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.

The allegations are that the accused, Christopher Hibbert, hit the complainant to her face and body. However, investigators indicated that Hibbert was not offered station bail due to his violent nature and for constantly issuing threat towards the complainant.

"The police said he issued a threat, to wit 'Dah gal yah nah make me see outta road. Chop me ago chop off her head'," the prosecutor outlined.

However, the complainant agreed to attend mediation. This decision affected the stance of the judge's ruling on bail.

"You are only offered bail because the woman agreed to solve in a peaceful way," Senior Parish Judge Paula Blake-Powell indicated.

Hibbert was offered bail in the sum of $50,000 with surety. He was ordered not to return to the home of the complainant and is to reside with his mother and report to the police daily. Hibbert is to receive anger management and conflict resolution counselling and a progress report is to be submitted on the next court date.

As a condition of his bail, Hibbert is not to threaten or harm the complainant. He is to return to court on June 15, when the matter is set for mention.
