Cops find illegal gun during bus search

A 28-year-old Westmoreland man has been slapped with weapons charges following an incident on the Spring Garden main road, Unity Hall, St James, on April 3.

Lamar Campbell, otherwise called 'Terrence', of Hartford district, was arrested and charged with possession of prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.

Reports are that about 2 p.m., lawmen intercepted a Toyota Hiace bus along the roadway. The passengers and the bus were searched and a 9mm browning pistol containing seven 9mm rounds found on the floor at the front passenger seat. Campbell was taken into custody and charged after a question-and-answer session. His court date is being finalised.
