Manchester man accused of murder remanded in police custody
Kevon Leslie, the Manchester man who allegedly stabbed this common-law wife to death, was remanded in custody when he appeared before the parish court this morning.
It is reported that Leslie, 29, was in an argument with Shadae Shari Brown, 28, when he allegedly used several knives to stab he over 26 times.
It is further reported that the incident happened in the the presence of Brown's 11-year-old son and her five-year-old nephew.
It was Brown's son who subsequently alerted neighbour's and informed them of his mothers urgent need for medical care.
Brown was taken to Mandeville Regional Hospital, but later succumbed to her injuries.
Leslie, who made his second court appearance today, had his bail application deferred by his Attorney Norman Godfrey, pending the availability of outstanding documents.
The documents are expected to become available on May 10. He is expected to return to court on Thursday May 18.
Brown's mother, Donna Walker- Ellis, along with other relatives and friends, led a peaceful protest outside the court this morning declaring they want justice.
"Me need Justice fi me child. She nuh deserve this..."she said as she struggled to fight back the tears.
Walker-Ellis said that among those truly affected by the tragic incident is Brown's son.
"It's rough... her son, today he is doing his exam and he is without a mother. How him ago live? Just 11 and he doesn't have a mom" Walker Ellis stated
Family members say they are expecting a life in prison sentence to be handed down at the appropriate time.
