Gun found during vehicle checkpoint operation
One firearm and several rounds of ammunition were seized by the St Catherine South police during an operation in Braeton, Portmore, on Tuesday.
Reports are that about 10:15 p.m., lawmen were conducting a vehicular checkpoint operation in the area when they searched a Honda Civic motor car. The search yielded one .38 Revolver loaded with five rounds of ammunition and fifty 9mm rounds concealed in a black bag.
Two men were taken in to custody; however, their identities are being withheld to facilitate further investigations.
In Trelawny, a team of officers assigned to that police division seized a prohibited weapon during an operation in Falmouth Square yesterday.
Reports are that about 1:15 a.m., lawmen were in the area when they saw a man walking along the roadway, and his action aroused their suspicion. On seeing the police, the man ran and dropped an object. The object was retrieved and closer examination of the object revealed that it was a Taurus Millennium 9 mm pistol.
