Hundreds of students and commuters from St James were left stranded this morning following the industrial action taken by drivers employed to the Montego Bay Metro Bus Company.

The drivers are disgruntled over what they are calling "illegal deductions" from their salary by the company's management.

All seven drivers turned up at the depot this morning, but decided on withdrawing their services after they learnt of the large deductions.

"Salaries were paid out late last night and we were told by management that they were cutting our pay, separate from what the ministry mandated us to get on a hourly basis," said Michael Johnson, Chief Union delegate.

"We want what the government mandate for us to get, and not a cent less, as a result we are taking a stand this morning because there is no documentation for her to cut anybody salary here, and no documentation has been shown to the Union from the Ministry."
