Investigators near the scene of yesterday’s double murder at the People’s Arcade in Montego Bay, St James.

A St James man who was released from police custody last Friday, four days after he was arrested on suspicion of being involved with a 12-year-old, was found murdered in a room at the People's Arcade yesterday.

Ricardo Green, 30, and Vanessa Hopkins, 24, an exotic dancer of a St Ann address, were discovered dead inside the room with gunshot wounds to the back of their heads.

The hands of Green was found bound behind his back with an electrical cord. He was clad in his underpants, while Hopkins was discovered in the nude.

Superintendent of Police Eron Samuels, head of operations in St James, confirmed that Green was recently in police custody.

"This gentleman who was killed was arrested by members of our team last week in a targeted operation where he was found in the company of a minor, and due to the non-cooperation of persons involved, he was released on Friday," Samuels said.

Well-placed sources told THE STAR that the child in question has been placed in the custody of the state.

In the meantime, while information on Hopkins is sketchy, Green has been described as a dedicated father to his six children.

"Ricardo was not a bad boy -- him did unruly in some way--but him was a good father to his six children them," a family member said.

Persons close to the probe said that sleuths are probing reports that Green and Hopkins were killed by gangsters who operate an extortion ring inside the arcade.

Green was reportedly last seen with a wad of cash in his possession and Hopkins on his arm on Sunday night.
