Beryllium partners with gov't, JCF to aid with security issues
Following multiple run-ins with criminal elements, security company Beryllium says it is strengthening its partnerships with the government, and the police to better safeguard its operations.
The renewed arrangement comes a little over a week after a security guard was shot and injured by armed men during an attack on one of the company's vehicles in Albion, St Thomas.
"To combat these attacks, we will be developing a closer partnership with the JCF to enhance our operational standards. Additionally, a more robust communication regime has been established between Beryllium and the JCF to facilitate real-time support and response," the company said in a statement.
The company went on to further declare that the government will expedite necessary amendments to the Private Security Regulation Authority Act, which should enable further specialised training and equipping of security officers.
In recent times, Beryllium has been at the centre of much public ridicule for what some of are calling a "breakdown of their standard operating procedures," following the most recent incident.
The attack in St Thomas is the fourth major attempted robbery committed against Beryllium in recent months.
In February, gunmen got away with about $10 million in cash in a daring mid-morning robbery, in which a security guard was killed and two others injured.
The company has expressed gratitude to its frontline team members for their "courage and unwavering dedication."
