Bail extended for male accused of double murder

A man accused of a shooting in Norwood, St James, that left two men dead in 2022 had his case set for hearing on May 24, following his appearance in the St James Parish Court on Monday.

Shandee Brown, who is charged with the murders of 31-year-old shopkeeper Delano Christie and 26-year-old Jordain Brown, had his bail extended until the next court date.

During Brown's brief court hearing, it was disclosed that all the relevant socuments prepared in relation to the case documents have not been bundled, and that Brown's lawyer, Martyn Thomas, was not able to attend court.

As a result, presiding judge Sasha-Marie Ashley set the case for continuation on May 24.

The allegations are that on November 16, about 8:15 p.m., patrons were at a shop operated by Christie along Hacca Street in Norwood when two armed men approached them and opened gunfire before fleeing the area on foot. It was subsequently discovered that Christie, Brown, and four other persons, including Christie's nine-month-old daughter,were shot. The injured persons were taken to hospital, where Christie and Brown were pronounced dead.
