Journalist Abka Fitz-Henley and business strategist Dr Dana Morris Dixon have been appointed to the Senate.

The Office of the Prime Minister said on Thursday that Morris Dixon and Fitz-Henley have been brought in to replace Natalie Campbell-Rodriques and Leslie Campbell who resigned from the Upper House of Parliament.

The Senate is made up of 21 members, 13 of whom are appointed by the Governor-General on the advice of the prime minister. The other eight are appointed on the advice of the leader of the opposition.

"I want to specially thank Senators Campbell-Rodriques and Campbell for their impeccable service and look forward to welcoming Dr Dixon and Mr Fitz-Henley as new senators," Prime Minister Andrew Holness said in a statement.

The prime minister said that the changes are part of a broader reorganisation, refresh and revitalisation of the Government. He said Campbell-Rodriques and Campbell will be assigned to roles that will be announced soon.
