Car wash assistant granted bail on fraud charges

Twenty-seven-year-old Denzil Duhaney, a car wash assistant was granted bail when he appeared in court on Friday. 

Duhaney was arrested and charged after he allegedly stole a client's debit car and conducted unauthorised  transactions amounting to US$300. 

He was granted bail in the sum of $500,000 by Senior Parish Court Judge Desiree Allyene, on condition that he reappear on July 14,2023.

It is reported that on May 11,2023, the complainant took her car to be washed by the defendant. Duhaney is said to have handed her the debit card, which was inside the car.

It is further reported that on her way home, the victim received messages of the usage of the card. The police was contacted and a report made.

An investigation was launched, and the defendant was picked up. During a search, the complainant's card information was discovered in his phone.

He was subsequently taken into custody and following a question and answer he was charged.
