29-y-o chef killed in shootout with police
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched an investigation into the shooting death of a 29-year-old chef by the police in Tucker, St James on Friday morning.
The deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Oatis Edwards.
According to the police, about 5:45 a.m., a joint police/military team was on operation in sections of Tucker, when Edwards was seen.
He allegedly opened at the lawmen, but the fire was returned. He was fatally shot and an illegal firearm was seized.
Director of Complaints at INDECOM's Western Office, Errol Chattoo, told the STAR that they are aware of the incident and are now carrying out investigations.
