Minor among three fined following scamming charges

Three persons, including a female minor, who pleaded guilty to lottery scamming charges, were fined a total $1.5 million or two years imprisonment when they appeared before the St Catherine Circuit Court.

They are Dwayne Minto, who was fined $900,000 or 12 months imprisonment, Kavoy Gracia who was fined $400,000 or nine months imprisonment, and the teen girl was fined $200,000 or three months imprisonment.

According to police reports, members of the Joint Anti-Gang Task Force carried out a raid on a Caribbean Estates property in Portmore, St Catherine.

During the raid, several lead sheets and other items pertaining to the identity of overseas residents, 20 SIM cards, cell phones, laptop computers and a Toyota MarkX motor car were seized.

Eight persons, six men and two females, were held on suspicion of possession of  identity information. Five of those persons were charged, and the others were released.
