Three held after illegal firearm found

Three persons have been taken into custody following the seizure of one firearm in the Westmoreland Police Division.

One Walther PPS .40 pistol along with a magazine containing five rounds of ammunition was seized during an operation in Morass district, Whithorn, on Wednesday.

Reports from the Whithorn police are that about 2:25 p.m., a team of officers on operation searched a premises. One firearm and several rounds of ammunition were found. The three persons were taken in custody in relation to the find. Investigations continue.
