Taxi man arrested after altercation with passenger

A St Mary taxi operator is facing gun charges regarding an incident in Quebec, in the parish on June 1.

Sixty-four-year-old Lloyd McKoy, otherwise called 'Jimmy', of Ferguson Lane, Port Maria, was charged with wounding with intent, unauthorised possession of prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition and using a firearm to commit a felony. Reports are that about 11:05 a.m., McKoy and a passenger had a disagreement, when McKoy pulled a firearm and pointed it at the passenger's head. A tussle ensued, during which the passenger used a knife to stab McKoy and ran from the vehicle. McKoy reportedly fired at the man, hitting him in his lower back. The police were summoned and on arrival, the injured men were assisted to the hospital, where they were treated.

McKoy was arrested and charged on Wednesday. His is set to appear in the Port Maria Parish Court next Thursday.
