Police seize M16 in Johnson Pen

The St Catherine police are reporting that an M16 Rifle was seized during an operation in Johnson Pen, St Catherine over the weekend.

A suspect, who is believed to be an auto-body repairman, was also arrested for possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.

It is reported that about 5 a.m. on Saturday, police operatives carried out an anti-crime  operation in the vicinity of the St John's Road community.

The team went into a lane and during a search, the weapon with a magazine containing five 5.56 rounds of ammunition was seized.

The suspect was arrested, and is pending a question and answer in the presence of an attorney.
