Less than a year ago, Georgia Coleman's eldest son was murdered by gunmen, but, on Monday, she was also cut down by thugs at her business place, at the entrance to Clayton Heights in Spanish Town, St Catherine.

Coleman's youngest son, 21-year-old son Jerome Walters, was also gunned down. The killing of Coleman, 50, and her son has shocked members of the St John's Road community that has been enjoying relative peace for some time.

"I don't know why they killed them. As far as me know, Georgia just do her business and go home. I was across the road when them start to fire the shot dem and mi take cover," said a resident.

According to reports, both Coleman and Walters were at the shop when two men drove up on a motor bike and opened fire hitting them. Walters received gunshot wounds to his upper body while his mother, who also sustained gunshot wounds to her upper body, ran and collapsed at the side of an unfinished building. Both were pronounced dead at the Spanish Town Hospital.

There is plenty of speculation as to why the mother and son were targeted, including whether the murders are connected to death of Coleman's son last year.

The police, however, have not yet established a motive for the double murder. When THE STAR visited the scene yesterday morning, detectives were still combing the scene looking for clues.
