Suspect in juice theft maintains his innocence

A Corporate Area man who was allegedly caught in the act of stealing $10,000 worth of biscuits and juices says a fractured foot is his alibi for the incident.

It is alleged that on June 16 about 6:33 p.m., Neville Fearon broke into the complainant's shop and stole juice and snacks. Prosecutors contend that the complainant saw Fearon in his shop, and attempted to confront him, when Fearon ran from the scene.

"Your Honour, I couldn't run at that time, Your Honour, because my foot was fractured, so there's no way I could run. My hand was broken in cast Your Honour, so nothing like that," Fearon told the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday.

"The complainant saw you breaking in the store and him go after you, and you run leave the juice and snacks. The complainant saw you go in the store, it's in his statement," Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque indicated.

"Your Honour, those are allegations. I did nothing like what they are saying. The complainant saw someone like me. It wasn't me, I was just coming from work," said the accused.

Fearon, who has another matter of robbery with aggravation, was made the subject of a fingerprint order and was remanded in custody until November 7.
