Woman charged for murder of Danielle Rowe remanded
Kayodi Satchell, the St Andrew woman charged with the murder and abduction of eight-year-old Danielle Rowe, will remain behind bars until next Wednesday after her bail application failed to get off the ground in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday.
Satchell, a dental assistant, has been in custody since August 11. When she last appeared in court on September 12, her attorney-at-law, Donnovan Collins, signalled his intention to apply for bail on her behalf.
However, his plans hit a snag Wednesday morning after the court was told that the her criminal records were outstanding. On her last appearance before a judge, the clerk of court indicated that Satchell “may have prior convictions”.
Collins described the absence of the criminal records as “disappointing”.
"We are here for bail but she will have to go into custody without her bail application being heard,” Collins said.
Parish judge Carlo Mason adjourned the matter until October 11, when the records are expected to be available.
Satchell, 30, was ordered to give her fingerprints to police investigators on her last court appearance. Investigators have deemed her responsible for the death of young Rowe.
It was reported that on June 8, Rowe was abducted from her school in Braeton, St Catherine. She was later found with her throat slashed on Roosevelt Avenue in Kingston and was transported to the Bustamante Hospital for Children, where she died two days later.
