Body discovered near Alpart Sports Club

A body was discovered in the vicinity of the Alpart Sports Club in Nain, St Elizabeth, about 9 a.m. on Thursday.

Up to press time, Acting Superintendent Coleridge Minto, head of the St Elizabeth Police Division, said that the identity of the deceased remains unknown. He said that an intensive investigation is currently under way and pleaded with the public to assist the lawmen.

"What we are appealing for is asking persons who may have any information to contact the Black River police, CIB [Criminal Investigations Branch] or dial 119. We have no information regarding the identity of the individual at this time," he said.

Reports are that residents stumbled upon the body and promptly alerted the police to the scene. The Jamaica Constabulary Force's Corporate Communications Unit disclosed that the body bore visible gunshot wounds.
