Man killed allegedly by police in Glengoffe

Courtney Thompson, a resident of Grateful Hill in Glengoffe, St Catherine, was shot and killed in an alleged confrontation with the police on Thursday. 

It is reported that lawmen were carrying out an operation at a yard in the Grateful Hill community, where two men were observed behaving in a suspicious manner. 

It is further reported that upon seeing the police, the men ran to the back of the premises. The police gave chase.

One of the men managed to escape, but Thompson allegedly stopped, brandished a gun, and pointed it at the lawmen. He was shot during the confrontation. 

The injured man was escorted to the Linstead  Hospital where he was pronounced  dead.

The Independent Commission of Investigations have launched a probe in the matter.
