Triple murder in Dunkirk

Two days after Commissioner of Police Major General Antony Anderson toured Dunkirk in East Kingston following a flare-up of violence, brazen gunmen, in broad daylight, yesterday murdered three men in the Bray Street section of the community.

The victims have been identified as Mario Headley, Rick Smith and another man only identified as Patrick.

Head of the Kingston Eastern Police Division Superintendent Tommi-Lee Chambers confirmed yesterday's triple murder which occurred about 9:45 a.m. The police are theorising that the men were killed in reprisal of a key player, known by the alias Popeye, who was gunned down in another section of Dunkirk on Friday.

"We do not have any leads so far as it relates to the triple murder, but our teams are working and we are asking anyone with information to contact the police," Chambers told THE STAR.

Yesterday, residents of Bray Street watched in horror as detectives processed the crime scene. They said the attack was cold-blooded and expressed fear that they too could have been hit by bullets.

"The way di man dem just come out di vehicle and start shoot, dem never care who get hit, enuh. It could have been woman or pickney. Is like dem nah partial nobody," one resident said.

Another resident said the gunmen were relentless as they opened fire at their victims. He said that a rifle was among the murder weapons fired, and theorise that no fewer than 60 rounds were expelled from the automatic weapon.

"Is a well-experience man fire dem shot deh fi about two minutes straight and kill off di innocent people dem. Is not nuh little prentice come this morning (yesterday). First mi ever hear so much shots fire one time. All mi belly hurt mi," he said.
