Kingston-based nurse Ruth Rodriguez Jones is now worried sick.

Her husband, 52-year-old Juan Antonio Rodriguez Jones, has been missing since January 1, and she does not have a clue about his whereabouts, or whether he is still alive. Rodriguez Jones, who struggled to hold back her tears as she outlined her stressful ordeal to THE STAR, is seeking the assistance of the public to help her find Juan, whose absence has created an emptiness that she does not want to continue to live with.

According to Rodriguez Jones, when she last saw her husband on New Year's Day at their St Andrew home, he was wearing a light blue jeans pants, grey T-shirt and black and white sneakers. He is originally from the Dominican Republic but has been living in Jamaica for the past 35 years. He is of dark completion and medium build. Rodriguez Jones said that on New Year's Day, Juan left home approximately 6:30 a.m. for Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, a usual trip for him. She said at times, he would be there for two weeks before returning home. According to Rodriquez Jones, while someone close to her husband told her that they saw him in Westmoreland last month, she is sceptical about that claim. She remains convinced that something is wrong because, in the six years of their marriage, he has never left home and not kept in contact with her.

"This never yet happen, him never yet gone this long. Normally when him go out to sea, him call me in the evening but that day him never call. So, mi call him, and mi never get him ... everybody a call him and nah get him," she said.

She also told THE STAR that since her husband went missing, she has been experiencing severe emotional distress.

"I'm not managing well, I'm having a breakdown not hearing from him, not seeing him. I don't know if he's okay and I miss him. He's a very good husband ... a loving husband," said Rodriguez Jones.

"I know him can be dead because I'm not hearing nothing, nobody hearing nothing. His two phones are off, nobody sees him, nobody hear anything," said Rodriguez Jones, her distress becoming more obvious with each word. "Normally him a man weh nuh turn off him phone. I don't know, but mi have to believe, mi have to have hope seh him out there because I love him dearly, and he loves me too, so I know he would want me to do all I can to find him."
