Man held with 50 rounds of ammo, gun at Hellshire Beach remanded

The matter was set for mention in the Gun Court on May 10.

A man who was held with 50 rounds of ammunition and an illegal gun along Hellshire Beach in Portmore, St Catherine was on Tuesday remanded in the parish court.

Dejaun Pitt is answering charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.

Senior Parish Court Judge Yvette Wenthworth-Miller ordered that the case be transferred to the Gun Court.

The matter was set for mention on May 10.

Allegations are that on March 29, cops were on patrol along the beach when the accused was accosted, searched and a nine millimetre pistol found on his person.

A bag in his possession was also searched and 50 rounds of ammunition were discovered, according to the police.

He was taken into custody and later charged following an investigation.
